It's Dec. 30th and I'm not ready for a new year. There's just so much left to do. I can think of tons of things I wanted to do and intended to do this year and I didn't. I'm sure your sentiments are similar.
I did however enjoy a great free concert at Forsyth Park this year. First Saturdays on River Street were also a lot of fun. One more to mention here is the Roundhouse Railroad Museum. I really enjoyed my visit there.
That's the funny thing about the place we live. We often go away to have a fun activity, but when you're in Savannah there is a fun activity to be had every day.
So plan some fun activities for the new year. Savannah truly is a great place to live and recreate. Parks, museums, historic homes, the beach, concerts.
Savannah was named one of the top five places to spend New Year's Eve. Read the article here. 5 Cool U.S. Places to Spend New Year's Eve

Savannah's Movies
Some great movies have been shot in Savannah including "The Conspirator". Many of the scenes were shot at Fort Pulaski National Monument. The Fort made a beautiful location. Nothing can beat the realism of the real thing. Although, the setting of the movie is Washington, D.C., Savannah transformed itself extremely well into that city.
One can hardly write about Savannah's movies without mentioning "Forrest Gump." We all know of the famous park bench located in Chippewa Square. The shrimp boat scenes were shot in neighboring South Carolina.
Another Savannah favorite is the "The Legend of Bagger Vance." Many locations around Savannah are seen in the movie including the Federal Court House, Madison Square and the Lucas Theatre.
I have briefly mentioned three movies and there are many many more. Do you love the movies filmed here? Please comment and let me know.

Christmas in Savannah
Memories of Christmas in Savannah are filled with many delightful experiences, but snow is not one that is had very often. The few times that we are able to enjoy snow is special and brings many memories. If you grew up here you can probably count on one hand the amount of times you have built a snowman.
One of the tremendous things about Savannah at Christmas is that you can enjoy the outdoors year round. Christmas can also mean a beautiful sunny day with delightful temperatures which allow a jaunt to the beach to pick up shells and even wade ankle deep in the surf.
If you enjoy Christmas music, there are a number of opportunities around town to hear and enjoy. The Savannah Theatre offers some beautiful music. Their program called "A Christmas Tradition" can be sampled throughout the holidays.
If you are looking for something a little more upbeat, try some bluegrass on Jekyl Island. The New Year’s Bluegrass Festival on Dec. 29th.
Merry Christmas and enjoy the Holidays!
